The Twins: Bradley Gives Them the Mound Edge, but Not a Blank Check
Minnesota holds the edge on the mound. Taj Bradley is listed as the Twins starter, and he receives an extra day between starts after limiting Atlanta to minimal damage and escaping traffic through five innings.
Bradley attacks with a power fastball but has more than that. His splitter, cutter and curve give him ways to change eye levels, and his recent run has been built on structured planning more than raw stuff.
The Twins’ urgency is real. They swept first-place Atlanta, briefly moved into a postseason position, and then were swept in San Diego. The lineup still leans on Josh Bell, Kody Clemens and Brooks Lee, while Byron Buxton has returned from the injured list.
Austin Martin remains out with a hamstring strain, and the bullpen question is genuine. Monday’s usage will determine whether Yoendrys Gómez, Jeff Hoffman and Andrew Morris are all available on Tuesday.

Taking the Athletics +1.5 requires only an A’s win or a one-run Twins victory. One-run games and extra-inning finishes are common enough that the side getting the run and a half owns a structural advantage.
Both bullpens depend on Monday’s opener, and an early exit from either starter would force lower-leverage arms into high-leverage spots in a warm park. That keeps a game from widening more often than it creates a blowout.
The market is pricing Minnesota’s talent edge but underweighting how much has to go right for them to win by two or more on the road. That is the entire argument for the home run line.
Risk: If Gage Jump falls behind early and Bradley works deep, the Twins can cover -1.5. The Athletics’ depleted lineup and unsettled infield make that a live possibility.
