Christian Scott is listed to start with an extra day of rest. His previous outing was his longest since Tommy John surgery, and interim manager Andy Green said Scott “bullied [the Nationals] with his heater” when at his best (mlb.com).
The counterpoint is the free traffic. Green noted leadoff walks and hit batters in that same start, and the White Sox are far more dangerous when a home run follows a walk than when they must string three hits together.
Juan Soto and Mark Vientos remain out, and Devin Williams is unavailable with a shoulder strain. The Mets are in an evaluation phase, which makes their recent resilience real but reduces the margin for a starter who falls behind.
