Twins Need a Clean Start From Matthews

That recent form is encouraging, but the broader profile is still uneven: a 4.86 ERA over 18 starts. The Twins' bullpen also enters Sunday in a delicate spot after covering extended innings Friday, with Andrew Morris likely limited or unavailable after working multiple innings Saturday.
Byron Buxton remains the main lineup question. General manager Jeremy Zoll called the hip issue “truly day-to-day” (mlb.com), and another absence would leave rookie Walker Jenkins handling center field again.
Jenkins has supplied energy with an extra-base hit, an RBI and a stolen base in his first two games. The defense behind Matthews is less proven without Buxton's range.
White Sox Ask the Bullpen for One More Afternoon
Jordan Hicks is listed to open for the Chicago White Sox, not to provide conventional starter length. Manager Will Venable has been piecing the staff together as a “day-to-day operation” (Chicago Sun-Times).

Colson Montgomery adds change-the-game power, while the order does not lean on one middle-of-the-lineup star.
Open Air and a Storm Risk
Target Field is open-air, and the forecast carries a genuine delay risk with thunderstorms possible near the scheduled first pitch. Light inward wind would mildly help pitchers, but the bigger variable is whether the game starts on time.
A delay would complicate the White Sox's opener-and-bulk plan more than a conventional starter setup. That matters more for the total than the moneyline, but it remains part of the afternoon's uncertainty.
The Underdog Price Overlooks the Full Picture
The White Sox are priced as the underdog largely because Hicks is an opener and Matthews is a stable starter. That framing gives too much weight to starter length and too little to everything else around it.
The White Sox are the better team by record, run differential and recent form. They have won the first two games of the series, and Benintendi is locked in at a park he clearly enjoys.
Minnesota's bullpen is not fresh, Buxton is likely out, and the Twins are in a four-game slide with their playoff margin disappearing. All of that makes this closer to a coin flip than the moneyline suggests.
The main risks are that Matthews repeats Monday's length, the White Sox bulk setup looks worse than expected, and a rain delay disrupts the opener plan.
